Q: How long after I e-mail you my copy
can I receive it? |
A: Within 48 hours. If there is some
reason why I can't get it to you in 48 hours (laryngitis, etc.) I will
e-mail you immediately.
I can usually turn stuff around in 24 hours and occasionally the same
day. |
Q: What if I don't like the way you read it? |
A: I'll do it again.
I want to do a million of these things with you, so I am not
going to shoot myself in the foot by giving you less than what you asked
for. Remember, my job is to make your job EASIER, not harder! |
Q: How do you know how to punch things, read
things, etc.
|
A: Through your direction. The more
direction you give me ("punch it HARD", or "be
friendly") the better.
If you want it read:
We really CARE about our Customers!
as opposed to:
We Really care about our Customers!
Underline it or bold it. If in doubt,
I will do it
both ways. |
Q: What about industry terms? |
A: Again, I ask your assistance. One of
my clients is "Logitrol". That could be pronounced with a
long O and a hard G, so it would sound like "low-get-trol".
It could also be pronounced with a soft O and a soft G so it
would sound
like "Logical". If you include a pronunciation guide, I
will follow it. If you are too busy, I will read it both
ways. |
Q: How do I get the
voice-over? |
A: Assuming it is a .30 or
.60 read, I will convert it into an MP3 file and e-mail it to you.
If you have a Real One Media Player, you
should be able to open it. If you don't, you can obtain a free one
on their web site:
If the read is longer than 2 or 3 minutes, I will burn
it to a CD and ship it to you any way you specify. If you need it
overnight, I will FedEx it. That cost about $20, which I pass on to
you. If you don't need it so quickly, I will put a stamp on it,
which should cost about $5. Again, that is a billable service.
I do not charge for the CD, the burn, the label
or the Jewel Case, but I do ask the client to pay postage.
|
Q: What file format do you
record in? |
A: All files are recorded and permanently
stored as a WAV file and an MP3 File.
|
Q: What is the difference
between WAV Files and MP3 Files? |
A: I won't bore you with a bunch
of technical jargon - let's just talk about file sizes. Below are
some statistics:
Typical .60 Read |
|
File
Size |
Download Time |
MP3 |
1.15MB |
About 6 minutes |
WAV |
12.7MB |
About 54 Minutes |
A 28.8Kps modem takes
approximately 40 seconds to download 100Kb of data. A Megabyte is
1024KB.
My ISP (America On-line) limits file uploads at
16MB. Therefore, even if I had a DSL line, I would still have to
send you a CD.
Since both files are digital, they should sound the
same. Some clients have reported that MP3s sound a little more
"high-end-y" or "tinny". That is usually fixable
using your EQ. |
